Job Summary

The College of Engineering (CoE) is seeking an Associate Director to lead the AI Engine initiative in collaboration with Purdue Engineering Think AI Initiative and the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program. The AI Engine Associate Director will provide strategic, operational, and external engagement leadership for the AI Engine program within CoE to prepare the next generation of engineers with cutting-edge AI curricula, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary training that meet national and global workforce needs.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Launch and manage the operations of the AI Engine initiative within the College of Engineering (CoE) in collaboration with Purdue Engineering Think AI Initiative and the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program.
  • Develop and steward strategic external partnerships with government including defense and intelligence communities, industry, and multi-university partners, and lead operational efforts to support those partnerships
  • Instruct one or two sections of AI Engine teams with VIP, manage and mentor AI Engine lecturers, and will oversee development of curriculum in collaboration with the faculty leaders of VIP, Think AI, and AI Engine teams to support AI Engine projects more broadly.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • M.S. or M.B.A. with 6 to 7 years of Data Science/AI/ML experience 
  • Or B.S. with 8 to 9 years of Data Science/AI/ML experience acceptable. 
  • Experience developing and stewarding internal and external partnerships 
  • Experienced manager; experience with budgets and planning; experience with sponsored research projects also preferred.
  • Industry experience and experience mentoring project-based courses preferred.

  • Proficient at managing legal, technical, and financial agreements
  • Flexible ability to travel
