Job Summary

The First-Year Engineering advising team serves approximately 3000 engineering students and helps students transition from high school to college and then from the First-Year Engineering Program to one of the Engineering professional schools. This advising role will include assistance with course selection, navigating Banner/MyPurdue Plan and the registration system, providing information to assist students with choosing an engineering major, career planning, and related advising duties. You will communicate with students having academic difficulty as well as work with a team of faculty, and other Purdue professionals to maximize student access and success in the First-Year Engineering Program as well as Purdue overall.

 

This is a hybrid position (4 days on-site / 1 day remote).

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in a field relevant to the position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to:
    • collaborate with faculty, staff, current and prospective students, parents, and families
    • problem solve and utilize campus resources for individuals or groups
    • willingness to work in a changing environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

 

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate student development and recruitment
  • Programs and majors at Purdue University
  • Field related to major advised

Additional Information

  • The salary for this position is $46,000
  • Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position

  • FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
