Job Summary

The Manufacturing and Materials Research Laboratories (MMRL) at Purdue features state-of-the-art experimental facilities for physical domain manufacturing that will increase collaboration with industries and foundations, accelerate tech commercialization in manufacturing and attract top talent.

 

As one of the first offshoots of Purdue's new eXcellence in Manufacturing and Operations (XMO) initiative, MMRL will focus on manufacturing research and experimentation. Together MMRL and XMO are vital components of a renaissance in U.S. manufacturing, logistics and supply chains – part of our nation's fresh commitment to revitalizing its industrial legacy, by linking physical, digital and sustainable manufacturing into a resilient, sustainable ecosystem that ensures jobs and national security.

 

This position will lend support to achieving the MMRL objectives for developing and implementing numerous MMRL specific education programs, advanced technology workshops (ATWs), and professional conferences. Administratively, this position will support the MMRL team’s efforts to grow annual grant funding, meet operational targets, and accomplish day-to-day actions. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting day-to-day administrative activities in the MMRL to help our community meet or exceed team performance objectives. Set and manage annual education and events calender
  • Develop and implement suite of education programs for the MMRL
  • Support technical outreach by planning and coordinating MMRL related conferences and events
     

Education and Experience

 

Required:

  • High school diploma/GED 
  • Two (2) years of experience in educational program management and event planning and/or administrative support

 

Skills:
Required: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions.
