Job Summary
The Student Activities and Organizations (SAO) Clerk plays a key role in supporting student engagement by managing the initial review of student activity and event submission requests. This includes the first review of Activity Planning Forms (APFs), communicating with students about questions, policies, procedures, requirements, and next steps, as well as assigning, tracking, and following up on APF statuses. The Clerk also assists with collecting and verifying documents or statuses needed for APFs, reviews and approves Extended Travel Forms, and provides absence letters for students traveling on organization business.
A central responsibility of this position is ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of Activity Planning Forms. The Clerk carefully reviews each submission to confirm compliance with university policies and procedures, follows up with students when clarification is needed, and helps guide them through next steps in the approval process. This review requires attention to detail, sound judgment in applying guidelines, and the ability to interpret policies in situations where solutions are not always clearly prescribed. By maintaining consistent oversight of APF submissions and approvals, the Clerk plays a vital role in supporting safe, well-organized student events across campus.
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum of 3 years of experience
- Effective rapport building and strong interpersonal skills including excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
- Well versed in the Microsoft Office Suite as well as quickly grasping and navigating computer management systems.
- Ability to grasp knowledge of policies and procedures related to different aspects of student services.
