SoET Lecturer of MET - Polytechnic Anderson

Job Summary

The School of Engineering Technology at Purdue University invites applications for a full-time appointment as a lecturer in the area of mechanical engineering technology. The Lecturer position is contractual non-tenure accruing, but renewable. This position will be at the Anderson, IN location.

Teaching Expectations

The School of Engineering Technology resides in Purdue’s Polytechnic Institute (PPI). The PPI uses innovative learning methods, real-world experiences, and industry partnerships to produce graduates uniquely qualified for technology-driven careers. This position requires faculty with both high technical competence and the ability and desire to teach in active classrooms. We are looking for candidates to teach students in our Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program with areas of competence related to manufacturing and industrial engineering technology. This position will support the growing student population in Anderson as well as the Richmond location. While those two locations are close enough to allow limited travel between sites, this new hire will be expected to use modern distance education technologies to reach multiple locations concurrently.

 

In addition to teaching, the candidate will be expected to aid in curriculum development for the mechanical engineering technology major and provide technical depth to the MET program. This may take the form of mentoring senior capstone teams.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least an M.S. in engineering technology, engineering, or a related discipline. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing for both classroom effectiveness and external engagement.
