Job Summary:
As an Arborist, you will:
- Inspect, maintain, and manage all campus trees and tree related issues. This includes hazardous tree evaluation, tree appraisals, campus tree inventory, pruning, removal of dead limbs, tree removals, plant diagnostics (disease & insects) as well as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) tree protection activities, natural disaster response & recovery efforts.
- Administer and manage the campus tree care plan,
- Tree Campus USA requirements and pesticide application of campus trees up to 70 feet tall.
- Climb trees with height up to 70 feet with rope and saddle.

What We Are Looking For:
NOTE: This position is posted as a dual level SK2/SK3 and depending on your experience, The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.
Education and Experience:
Qualified candidates will need (SK2):
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years' experience in tree care management (tree removal, planting, and pruning etc.)
Skills needed:
- Equipment operation skills (woodchipper, aerial lift, chain saw, skid steers, dump trucks, stump grinder, various hand tools, etc.) necessary.
- Must obtain Commercial Driver License within first 180 days of employment.
- Must maintain license including successful completion of required medical examination.
- Must obtain and maintain ISA arborist certification within 5 years of employment.
- Must be able to lift and carry 60 to 75 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Valid driver's license required.
Qualified candidates will need (SK3):
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Four years' experience in tree care management (disease identification, pesticide application, tree removal, planting, and pruning, climbing with rope and saddle, etc.)
Skills needed:
- Equipment operation skills (woodchipper, aerial lift, chain saw, etc.) necessary.
- Must obtain Commercial Driver License within first 180 days of employment and 3A pesticide applicator's license within first two years of employment.
- Must maintain these licenses including successful completion of required medical examination.
- Must obtain and maintain ISA arborist certification within first year of employment.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 to 60 lbs. frequently, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Valid driver's license required.
