Job Summary

Associate Director of Sports Medicine - Work with the Assistant Athletics Director of Sports Medicine and team physicians with the delivery of athletic health care for intercollegiate athletes and athletic teams. Supervise 2-3 certified athletic trainers and provide professional development to those individuals. NATA-BOC certification and Indiana Athletic Training License, Indiana Physical Therapy License if employee has Physical Therapy Degree. Must adhere to and comply with Purdue University, Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA applicable rules policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

What You'll Be Doing:

Work with the Assistant Athletics Director of Sports Medicine/team physicians with the delivery of athletic health care of assigned sports team(s).

  • Provide service care given of emergency needs of student-athletes. 
  • Provide immediate Rx rehabilitation for patients. 
  • Provide supervision of returning student-athlete to athletic activity. 
  • Provide appropriate documentation of care. 

 

Execute administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. For Example:

  • Rehab billing coordinator 
  • HIPPA officer for Sports Medicine 
  • Staff development & hiring 
  • CPR instructor 
  • ImPACT coordinator
  • Gatorade coordinator/ordering 
  • Staff scheduling 
  • North West athletic facility sports 
  • Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality development 
  • Preceptor-academics

 

Other Related Responsibilities:

  • Supervise 2-3 certified athletic trainers and provide professional development to those individuals.
  • Supervise athletic training curriculum students as assigned.
  • Maintain appropriate medical records for student-athletes health care. 
  • Address other related health care problems as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine and/or supervising team physician 

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:                                

  • Master’s or Bachelors's degree from CAAHEP accredited athletic training education program.  
  • 6 years’ experience in Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy and/or Athletic Training            
  • NATA-BOC certification and ability to obtain Indiana Athletic Training License, Indiana Physical Therapy License if employee has Physical Therapy Degree.  


                         
Skills needed:

  • Must adhere to and comply with Purdue University, Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA applicable rules policies, procedures, rules and regulations‎.
  • MODERATE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
