Job Summary
The Athletic Trainer will be a member of the Purdue Sports Medicine Department working under the supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Performance and Sports Medicine and team physicians to deliver athletic health care for intercollegiate athletes and athletic teams, mainly Football.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing service care given of emergency needs of student-athletes
- Providing immediate Rx rehabilitation for patients
- Providing supervision of returning student-athlete to athletic activity
- Providing appropriate documentation of care
- Serving as the primary rehabilitation coordinator, fostering seamless communication and integration among all members of the sports medicine and performance team
- Mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced athletic training staff, promoting best practices in rehabilitation and injury management
- Leading collaborative case reviews utilizing advanced clinical reasoning to establish holistic and innovative return-to-play strategies
- Supervising athletic training curriculum students as assigned
- Maintaining appropriate medical records for student-athletes health care
- Executing administrative duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Performance and Sports Medicine
- Addressing other related health care problems as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Performance and Sports Medicine and/or supervising team physician
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from CAAHEP accredited athletic training education program
- 4 years’ experience in Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy and/or Athletic Training
- NATA-BOC certification and ability to obtain Indiana Athletic Training License, Indiana Physical Therapy License if employee has Physical Therapy Degree
- Demonstrated expertise in rehabilitation program design and coordination, including advanced knowledge of functional return-to-play protocols and post-surgical rehabilitation
Nice to Have
- 5+ years’ experience with a proven record of accomplishment of effective collaboration within a multi-disciplinary performance team within a collegiate, professional, or high-performance Football setting
