Job Description 

The primary role of the BCC Student Ambassador position is customer service. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a cultural center environment. This position should work 10 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The BCC Student Ambassador position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven. 

Prerequisites and Qualifications

Prerequisite(s) 

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in customer service.  

 

Qualifications 

High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of six semesters of college coursework successfully completed 

Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University, Purdue Global  

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written 

Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail 

Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills 

Customer service oriented 

Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines 

Ability to work independently and with a team 

Be timely and organized 

 

Position Responsibilities 

Supervise evening student staff and ensure smooth operations Monday–Thursday from 5:00–10:00 PM and Friday from 5:00–8:00 PM. 

Conduct regular building walkthroughs to monitor safety, usage, and cleanliness of all public spaces. 

Ensure rooms, equipment, and common areas are properly secured, cleaned up, and reset at the end of each shift. 

Serve as the primary point of contact for evening events, room reservations, and visitor assistance. 

Address conflicts, incidents, or facility concerns and complete required documentation per BCC procedures. 

Enforce building policies while maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment. 

Communicate important updates, issues, or follow-up needs to daytime professional staff. 

Oversee building closing procedures: locking doors, shutting down equipment, and confirming all occupants have exited. 

Help train, guide, and support evening staff during operating hours. 

Respond to emergencies and coordinate with campus safety or appropriate personnel as needed. 

Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information  

Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester) 

Actively participate in and attend BCC sponsored programs and events
