Job Description

The primary role of the Financial Wellness Educator position is to work collaboratively with other professional staff to assist in the implementation of all areas of financial wellness. The focus of this position is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage their finances and achieve financial independence. Financial Wellness Educators will provide one-on-one financial coaching and present information sessions in the areas of budgeting, saving, credit, taxes, debt management and beginning to invest. The goal of this program is to provide students with resources and education to help them to make well-informed financial decisions throughout college, and to assist them in successfully achieving their lifelong financial

 

This position should work 10 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The Financial Wellness Educator position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.

 

Prerequisite(s)

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in finance, financial planning & counseling, or business administration.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University, Purdue Global or a local accredited college
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Be timely and organized

  • Maintain safety and risk management standards of the department
  • Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to customers
  • Handle emergency situations and prioritize responsibilities while continuing to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
  • Serve and participate on committees within the division to provide feedback from a student lens
  • Present ideas to division senior leadership as identified
  • Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
  • Must attend all scheduled staff meetings to gain and/or share pertinent information
  • Other duties as assigned
