Job Title:  Senior Events Manager
Job Description: 

Job Summary

The Senior Events Manager will be responsible for supporting the MEP Center by autonomously promoting, directing, and coordinating event and workshop activities to introduce and connect businesses to the MEP Center.  This position will schedule programs and exhibits, coordinate facilities and vendors, create and manage budgets, develop and executive event plans, and handle registration processes.  Additionally, the Senior Events Manager will independently manage a significant source of Center revenue, as well as creating a robust lead pipeline.  The role holds responsibility for over 250 annual workshop events.  Must frequently consult with internal staff to determine event objectives and requirements.  Communicate often with external parties, including clients, prospects, vendors, etc.  Proactively plan for and problem solve through unforeseen obstacles, challenges, and market changes for optimal business results.  Research and implement Best Practices for MEP public events for impactful efficiency and process improvement.  Develop strong cohesive team partnership with Purdue Conferences while monitoring all aspects of the event to ensure adherence to university policies and procedures, and compliance with applicable regulations and laws.

 

Office location:  Carmel, Indiana

 

This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, communications, hospitality and tourism management or a related field
  • Four years of scheduling, coordinating and managing client events/workshops
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of required education and related work experience
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work effectively under time and resource constraints
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to assess client needs and communicate additional products and services for a successful event
  • Ability to engage with and influence individuals at all levels
  • Skilled in budget creation and management

What Is Helpful:

  • Business development experience
  • Experience with continuous improvement, quality, and operational efficiency and/or growth services
  • Industrial event knowledge with an emphasis on event planning, promotion, lead development, communication, and project management
