Senior Industry Advisor - Manufacturing Extension Partnership

Job Summary

Purdue University's Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP)  is looking for a Senior Industry Advisor who desires meaningful work that directly impacts Indiana's manufacturing sector. This is an exciting opportunity to step beyond sales or delivery and truly wrap their arms around the entire Industry in IN. You will develop relationships with clients (and well as regional initiatives), provide solutions/make connections to resources, offer training to incumbent workers and enhance personal industry-related skills – a unique opportunity to work with many different industries on mission-critical strategies.

The Senior Industry Advisor is a subject matter expert with the full breadth of MEP service capabilities, will autonomously sell and manage the high impact, high revenue generation consulting projects; helping NE Indiana Manufacturers reach their workforce and competitive needs through efficiency, growth, and sustainability. This position requires a wide breadth of understanding of technical and engineering manufacturing processes, with a high aptitude for problem-solving process issues for impactful resolution and increased revenue generation.

The Senior Industry Advisor will join a team with supportive management that will advocate for the needs of the team and clients.

The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) mission is to advance Indiana's prosperity, health, and quality of life. Each year MEP serves hundreds of manufacturing companies, businesses, high tech start-ups, life science companies, governmental units, and not-for-profit organizations. Impacts include significant sales increases, cost reductions, capital investments, and jobs created or saved.


  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering or Technology
  • Six (6) years of direct sales experience to the manufacturing industry or as a consultant to a manufacturing company
  • Business development experience with professional services
  • Proven ability to analyze manufacturing business trends and performance issues, identifying areas for improvement, selling fee-based project solutions, and implementing improvements with measurable ROI
  • Ability to manage all aspects of the project from proposal to agreement execution, to report out of impactful outcomes
  • Development, testing and delivering new products and services for Indiana manufacturers


  • MS Degree in Engineering, Technology or MBA combined with BS in Engineering or Technology
  • 5+ years of direct experience in continuous improvement, quality, and operational efficiency and/or growth services
  • Lean, Six Sigma and Project Management
