Job Summary
The Clerk is responsible for ensuring compliance with all State of Indiana and Federal regulations regarding the release of confidential medical records. This position documents the release and receipt of records within the electronic health record (EHR) system and assists both internal and external customers by coordinating medical record requests. Duties include reviewing and preparing medical documents for scanning and uploading into the EHR, as well as responding to inquiries related to document release, HIPAA guidelines, and immunization requirements. The Clerk also collects and verifies student immunization dates to meet both state and Purdue requirements, conducts chart audits, and inputs mandatory public health reports into the state database. In addition, this role provides backup support to the administrative assistant when needed and performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of general office experience
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required.
- Ability to handle confidential information discretely on a daily basis is critical.
- Strong organization skills necessary.
- Must be able to provide excellent customer service, often with frequent interruptions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
- Ability to interact with a diverse customer base using tact and diplomacy is essential.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate effectively a variety of policies and procedures to internal and external customers.
- Ability to independently research issues and draw sound conclusions.
- Ability to learn new and advancing technologies
Nice to Have:
- One (1) year medical office experience
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and anatomy beneficial

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $16.33. The final offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including internal equity, available budget, and relevant experience.
