Job Summary

The Department of Comparative Pathobiology (CPB) and the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine are seeking a full-time (12-month) Veterinary Diagnostic Microbiologist.

  • Clinical track Assistant Professor
  • Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with academic record and experience.

Qaulifications

  • DVM (or equivalent) or Ph.D. (or equivalent) in microbiology (or related field) conferred at the time of appointment.
  • Experience in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory.
  • Record of communication of test results and interpretations to clinicians.
  • Record of supervision of Laboratory staff.

Principle Duties

Faculty - Clinical

  • Diagnostic Service – Serve as head of the ADDL’s Bacteriology and Mycology laboratory with oversight of daily diagnostic testing, new test development, and process improvement. Consult with clients including clinical veterinarians, producers, and owners.
  • Teaching – Participate in teaching DVM and Veterinary Nursing students and training residents/graduate students.
  • Research – Maintain a program of scholarly activities, which will include participation in collaborative research.
  • Provide continuing education/outreach to ADDL constituencies, present at local, regional, and/or national meetings, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to shared committee work and other assignments, as needed at the ADDL, CPB department, college, and/or university level.
