Job Summary

Purdue University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time (100%, 12 month) Clinical-Track Position in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.  The successful candidate will join an established ECC team consisting of three board certified criticalists, four residents, several experienced emergency doctors, and 15 technicians.  The ECC service has a consistently growing caseload and receives emergency referrals as well as local emergency cases from Tippecanoe County and the surrounding area.

Qualifications

Qualifications for the position include a DVM or equivalent degree and completion of an American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (ACVECC) approved residency training program in emergency and critical care or board certification. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A background check will be required for employment in this position.

General Information

The Purdue Veterinary Hospital recently completed a major expansion project. The David and Bonnie Brunner Small Animal Hospital added 65,000 square feet to the existing small animal hospital facilities in Lynn Hall of Veterinary Medicine.

The new complex provides state of the art teaching facilities dedicated to educating the next generation of veterinary professionals, enabling faculty to provide top quality compassionate animal health care, and serve as a catalyst for interdisciplinary clinical research.

Job Responsibilities

The applicant will be expected to provide an approximately 70% Clinical commitment to the Purdue Veterinary Hospital. Teaching responsibilities include clinical, didactic and laboratory instruction of DVM students, veterinary nursing students, house officers, and graduate students. Primary emergency call is shared with other Emergency Critical Care faculty and residents.  Clinical research activity in collaboration with veterinary clinical sciences faculty (www.vet.purdue.edu/vcs/) and Purdue Veterinary Medical (PVM) faculty is encouraged. Participation in engagement activities, including committee work and delivery of continuing education programs, is expected.
