Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Special Projects Specialist will be a generalist working to advance strategic initiatives in the College of Liberal Arts. This will include efforts to grow student enrollments in CLA majors (CODO and transfer), Degree+ and Cornerstone, to advance awareness of research achievements, and general support for targeted marketing efforts for current and emerging initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate with colleagues across the College and across the University and beyond to share information and create and disseminate useful resources and engage with a wide variety of constituents. This position requires exceptional organizational and communication skills, strategic social media skills, and the creativity and problem solving needed to increase engagement and participation.

 

The Special Projects Specialist will play an important role in moving forward the goals of the College of Liberal Arts, driving student participation, fostering community engagement, and advancing the overall mission of Liberal Arts scholarship at Purdue University.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle communication tied to various campaigns to advance College initiatives including those generated by digital advertising. Serve as a first point of communication for inquiries and gather meaningful responses from subject matter experts for dissemination as appropriate.
  • Strategically support social media efforts tied to key initiatives in collaboration with the CLA Marketing team. Tag key partners as appropriate, assess and determine key hashtags for maximum impact and reach.
  • Serve as a resource at various events for recruiting new and continuing students to opportunities within the College. Execute a comprehensive social content plan that incorporates tagging relevant partners, identifying optimal hashtags for broader reach and impact, and analyzing the effectiveness of these strategies. Identify key student groups in targeted academic colleges and implement those efforts to increase awareness of academic opportunities in the College of Liberal Arts that are available to all Purdue students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. One year of professional experience preferred.
  • Self-starter able to work independently and to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and people skills
  • Customer service orientation with a “can-do” attitude
  • Attention to detail and understanding of how information is interconnected
  • Organizational skills and an understanding of how to manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders and deadlines in a complex, dynamic environment
