Assistant Director
Purdue University/Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
This is a regional position located in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. The Position will assist the Office of Admissions in administering, conducting, and evaluating recruitment plans, programs, and enrollment goals by residing in the DFW area (Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX) and actively participating and facilitating recruitment and programming initiatives targeting prospective students within the DFW region. The position works alongside the other Purdue Regional Reps and campus staff in the development of Purdue's national recruitment plan. Main responsibilities will be to coordinate efforts and coverage of the DFW region, be involved with the DFW area regional organization, and support campus staff in both occasional on campus programs as well as events being organized by campus and held in the area. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding communicator with the ability to engage and build relationships with prospective students and families, high school counselors, and campus partners. Additionally, this position requires the ability to think critically and independently using problem-solving and judgment skills to make educated, professional decisions.
This is a ten-month full-time position (August - May) with benefits and directly reports to the Associate Director of Admissions-(Regional Southern California).
This position is located in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and will require working from a home office and traveling throughout the Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX region, as well as occasional coverage of nearby states, to be determined seasonally in collaboration with the territory manager and supervisor.
Responsibilities and Duties: Although other duties may be assigned as needed, the core duties and responsibilities of this position are:
- (40%) Extensive travel, mostly in the fall and some in the spring, while representing Purdue University at high schools, college fairs, admission receptions, and other outreach events both in and out of Texas, providing information and answering questions from students, parents, school counselors, and other constituent groups. Give presentations to large and small audiences across the DFW region. Hold membership in the Texas regional networks. Facilitate effective recruitment of prospective students and counsel them in the college search and selection process.
- (30%) Review Purdue applications holistically to determine admission eligibility. Counsel and explain admission decisions to prospective students and their families. Uphold a high level of objectivity, manage confidential information, and use discretion in all facets of the position, especially in the application review process. Admission decisions are made using an individual and holistic review process.
- (10%) Answer a wide variety of inquiries (in-person, letters, email, and phone) from prospective and admitted students and other constituent groups with promptness and professionalism
- (10%) Maintain a high level of organization and prioritization to ensure timely, efficient, and effective work. Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while dealing with frequent interruptions.
- (5%) Remain up to date with state and federal issues and policies affecting college admission by reading professional publications, developing a strong professional network and participating in professional development opportunities both on campus and at the state and national level.
- (5%) Perform other duties that contribute to the overall goals of the Office of Admissions and Purdue University.
This position will have a location to the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area.

What We're Looking For
Educaton and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- Two (2) years of experience in college admissions, recruitment, or college counseling, event and travel planning, customer service, student services, and presentation experience
- Experience working from a home office within this regional territory
- A valid driver's license
Preferred:
- History working in higher education and a regional admissions network
- Bilingual
- Experience using the Slate CRM
- Passion for working with diverse populations of students including Historically Underrepresented Populations
Skills Needed:
- Ability to work independently and successfully with limited supervision.
- Ability to think critically and use problem-solving and judgment skills to make educated, professional decisions.
- Strong communicator with the ability to engage with diverse constituent groups of students and families.
- Comfortability speaking to audiences of all sizes, both in-person and virtually.
- Event planning.
