Job Summary
As a Senior Data Analyst in the Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment (IDA+A) office, you will play a pivotal role in guiding robust reporting, analysis, and transparency of institutional data. You will participate in initiatives focusing on research, statistical analysis, report development, dashboard creation, and evidence-based decision support. Working closely with diverse decision-makers, you will drive impactful projects and contribute to Purdue University's strategic initiatives and next giant leaps. Collaboration, teamwork, and providing clear, insightful, actionable, and customer-focused results will be at the core of your responsibilities. You will work, lead and mentor analytics colleagues and partner with staff in assessment, data engineering, data science, and data governance, valuing their contributions as essential assets to the team.
Responsibilities:
Support Data and Information Needs
- Projects are typically difficult or complex and completed independently with limited supervision
- Provide timely and accurate routine and ad hoc reports
- Create complex data sets to support reporting efforts
- Conduct analysis: descriptive, summary, and statistical(e.g., regression, ANOVA)
- Interpret results and share with stakeholders across campus
- Author BI Content: reports and dashboards
Training & Documentation
- Author and revise metadata, data definitions, and specifications
- Provide assistance in creating training materials for entry level data fluency
Participate in Purdue Data Community
- Share information, explain facts, and communicate with stakeholders across campus
Participate in Data Quality Activities
- Work with data partners across campus to elevate data quality by making moderate changes or enhancements
- Identify and work with campus partners to resolve data quality issues that are complex and span many domains
- Create and execute validation plans for new data sets an updates to business intelligence software
Functional Area (Registrar, EM Comms, & Admissions Data) Oversight
- Coordinate multiple projects supporting the functional area
- Influence individuals on the analytics team to adopt best practices and standard procedures related to the functional area
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Four years of experience in data extraction, processing, visualization and analysis
- Experience using BI tools
- Ability to maintain process documentation
- Ability to prioritize work, balancing routine with adhoc
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail and an ability to work with large data sets
- Ability to fit the presentation of data and analyses to the audience (operational or executive)
What Is Helpful:
- Master's degree
- Experience using Cognos and Tableau
