Job Summary

As a Data Analyst (P2 level) or Senior Data Analyst (P3 level) in the Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment (IDA+A) office, you will play a pivotal role in guiding robust reporting, analysis, and transparency of institutional data.  You willl participate in initiatives focusing on research, statistical analysis, report development, dashboard creation, and evidence-based decision support.  Working closely with diverse decision-makers, you will drive impactful projects and contribute to Purdue University's strategic initiatives and next giant leaps.  Collaboration, teamwork, and providing clear, insightful, actionable, and customer-focused results will be at the core of your responsibilities.  You will work alongside (P2 level) or lead and mentor (P3level) analytics colleagues and partner with staff in assessment, data engineering, data science, and data governance, valuing their contributions as essential assets to the team.  Fully remote work is available for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

Support Data and Information Needs

  • Independently complete moderately complex projects
  • Deliver timely and accurate routine and ad hoc reports and dashboards
  • Create data sets to support reporting efforts
  • Conduct descriptive, summary, and statistical analyses (e.g., regression, ANOVA)
  • Interpret results and communicate with stakeholders

 

Training & Documentation

  • Author and revise metadata, data definitions, and specifications
  • Assist in creating training materials for entry-level data fluency
  • Provide system administration support for Data Cookbook and enterprise metadata software

 

Participate in Purdue Data Community

  • Collaborate with data partners to enhance data quality
  • Share information and communicate effectively with stakeholders

(P3 level only) Enhance Data Quality 

  • Collaborate with campus data partners to improve data quality through moderate changes or enhancements
  • Resolve complex data quality issues spanning multiple domains
  • Develop and execute validation plans for new data sets and business intelligence software updates

(P3 level only) Partner with functional areas of Enrollment Management Communications, Registrar, and/or Admissions

  • Gain a deep understanding of these functional areas' use cases and questions
  • Deploy this knowledge to provide customized and tailored support to meet the functional area's needs
  • Influence analytics team members to adopt best practices and standard procedures related to the functional area

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two or more years of experience in data extraction, processing, visualization, and analysis (P2 level)
  • Consideration may be given to a full-time internship as experience
  • Four or more years of experience in data extraction, processing, visualization, and analysis (P3 level)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and maintain process documentation
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data
  • Proficiency visualizing data utilizing BI tools (Tableau preferred)
  • Knowledge of relational databases, including a strong understanding of reporting tool (Cognos and SQL preferred)
  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis (e.g. SAS, SPSS, Minitab)
  • Ability to be self-motivated with attention to detail and a focus on quality

What Is Helpful:

  • BA/BS in Business, Management, Financial Management, MIS, CIT, Math/Statistics, Behavioral and Social Sciences or a closely related field
  • Master's degree
  • Experience with SQL, Cognos, Tableau, analytical software (SAS, SPSS, Minitab, R, Python), Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of relational databases, including a strong understanding of reporting tool (Cognos and SQL preferred)
