Digital Marketing & Social Media Intern

Position Overview

The Digital Marketing & Social Media Intern supports the Athletics Marketing team through a mix of in-office digital marketing work and on-site game day content support. This role requires 6–8 hours per week in-office, availability to work all home football game days, additional availability for other athletic events and game days as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

This position is ideal for a student interested in digital advertising, email marketing, social media/content, and live-event marketing execution. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting paid advertising, email campaigns, and real-time content needs across multiple sports.

Core Responsibilities

Email Marketing & Advertising Support

  • Support email and advertising campaign execution, including content creation, review, setup, and scheduling
  • Assist with competitor analysis and market research to inform digital and email campaign strategy
  • Support testing and optimization efforts (subject lines, creative variations, audience strategy)
  • Participate in post-campaign reviews to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Support campaign performance evaluation, including basic reporting and insights

Social Media Content Support

  • Capture real-time content at games and events to drive fan engagement and storytelling
  • Assist in the scheduling, creation, and delivery of social media content
  • Support fan experience, ticketing, and event initiatives through social media execution
  • Coordinate with marketing and creative staff to ensure content aligns with campaign goals

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be a current Purdue student
  • Interest in digital marketing, advertising, or social content, preferably within sports
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn analytics tools
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, live-event environment
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required by game schedules
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of various Adobe applications and other editing software
  • Comfortable being in front of the camera in social media content
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
