In this role, you will serve as the Director of the Bechtel Innovation Design Center (BIDC), an advanced makerspace serving students from across the campus.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop and implement policies/procedures for operation, maintenance, and use of the BIDC facility, with an overarching emphasis on safety.
- Hire and provide direct administrative supervision of BIDC staff members (currently three full time staff) plus undergraduate/graduate student assistants (typically 4 graduate and 50 undergraduate).
- Lead and empower staff to manage the graduate and undergraduate team. Provide leadership, training, education, and support for students working on curricular and extracurricular projects in the facility.
- Interact with a large range of constituents including students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and industry regarding the BIDC. Work with development to cultivate gifts for operation and sustainability of the facility.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology or related
- Six (6) years of experience in the design-build area and working with students and faculty
Skills needed:
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong customer service orientation. Demonstrated problem-solving and computer skills, including a knowledge of basic machine programming and CAD/CAM-type software
