Job Summary

We are seeking a Purdue junior or senior to support the development and testing of hands-on engineering prototypes involving sensors, microcontrollers, power systems, and electromechanical components.


What you will do
● Build, wire, and test prototype electronic systems.
● Interface sensors and actuators with microcontrollers.
● Troubleshoot circuits, wiring, communication, and power issues.
● Support sensor calibration and basic data collection.
● Document wiring, test results, and prototype changes.

What we are looking for
● Junior or senior in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
● Basic circuit knowledge and experience with breadboards, multimeters, and soldering.
● Experience with microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP32, STM32, or similar.
● Comfort troubleshooting hardware and working with physical prototypes.
● Interest and eagerness to learn and work with a diverse team, including virtual work with collaborators in different industry sectors and time zones, building a hands-on kit for a variety of communities of learners.

Helpful, but not required
● C/C++, Python, or embedded programming.
● I2C, SPI, UART, analog sensors, or digital sensors.
● MOSFETs, relays, motors, pumps, LEDs, or other actuator control.
● Power supplies, voltage regulation, batteries, or basic protection circuits.
● PCB design tools such as KiCad, Altium, or EasyEDA.

Education

Purdue junior or senior undergraduate student.

Experience

Helpful, but not required
