Position Overview

The Course Development Associate (CDA) is an undergraduate student employee who supports the Course Production team by assisting with course development tasks. This includes formatting course materials (Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs), supporting accessibility remediation, and completing repeatable tasks in the learning management system (Brightspace).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint (advanced formatting preferred) 
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (or willingness to learn) 
  • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace – experience as a student qualifies) 
  • STEM background preferred but not required 

Key Responsibilities

  • Format and remediate course materials (Word, PowerPoint, and PDFs) to meet accessibility standards 
  • Perform routine course updates and content edits in Brightspace 
  • Organize and manage files within SharePoint project folders 
  • Follow established workflows using tools such as Microsoft Forms, Trello, and Microsoft Teams 
  • Communicate with team members, project stakeholders, and supervisor regularly on project status, questions, or issues 
  • Participate in quality assurance processes, including proofing work
  • Attend weekly project meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student at Purdue University West Lafayette campus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions 
  • Clear and professional written communication skills 
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines 
  • Comfortable learning new tools and processes

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Hybrid position (on-campus during the semester; remote option available during summer within the U.S.) 
  • 10–15 hours per week, scheduled around class commitments 
  • Work is typically completed in 2–3 hour blocks, Monday–Friday 
  • Participation in weekly team meetings and communication expectations required
