The Multimedia Technician is a seasoned individual contributor working independently under limited supervision who will support the oversight of the daily operations of multimedia services at the Purdue Fort Wayne TechHub, including Studio M, the 3D printing lab, and the Esports lab. This position supports students, faculty, and staff by managing and coordinating access to creative tools and resources for media production, 3D printing, and Esports technologies.
The Multimedia Technician leads a team of student employees, contributes to overseeing scheduling and lab operations, and serves as a campus resource for multimedia projects. This role involves contributing to developing procedures, maintaining and troubleshooting audio/visual equipment and software, and exploring emerging technologies to enhance the TechHub’s offerings. Collaboration with Learning Spaces ensures alignment with campus-wide support strategies.
This is a hands-on opportunity to manage innovative, technology-rich environments supporting creativity, collaboration, and digital learning.
This position is located at the Fort Wayne campus.
What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in multimedia or creative technology environments, basic technical support experience in multimedia hardware configurations, and familiarity with video, audio, photo editing, and/or 3D printing tools required
Preferred:
- Supervisory experience, especially with student employees
- An associate's degree in media, IT, or a related field
Skills Needed:
- Experience with:
- graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- video recording, livestreaming, and digital content creation workflows
- Strong understanding of customer service principles and the ability to support users in a creative technology environment
- Proficiency with digital video editing software, including Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and similar tools
- Proficient in audio editing tools including Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, and Audacity
- Familiarity with 3D printing processes, equipment maintenance, and related software
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to multimedia hardware
- Proficient in documenting processes and adopting emerging creative technologies to improve service delivery
Preferred:
- Apple computing skills and abilities
