Job Summary

The Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment office is seeking a full stack developer for an 18-month position to design, develop, and construct an easily navigable set of web tools and applications related to ongoing projects in student curriculum analysis and new program submission.  The ideal candidate will exhibit self-direction, creativity, a passion for strategic thinking and learning new things, and an intuition for software design.

 

Responsibilities:

1.  Web Application Development:

  • Analyze users' needs and then design, test, and develop applications to meet those needs
  • Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design

2.  Back-End Development:

  • Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications
  • Work closely with the data science team to design RESTful APIs
  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency

3.  Cross-Functional Teamwork:

  • Work closely with data scientists and stakeholders to improve software
  • Collaborate with colleagues by providing instruction, direction, or supporting quality assurance activities

4.  Documentation:

  • Write technical documentation

The full stack developer will report to the Institutional Data Governance Program Lead.  Remote and hybrid options are available for this position.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields or disciplines:  computer graphics technology, web design and development, computer science or related field
  • One year of job or equivalent coursework experience in web development/programming, preferably with relational databases to produce dynamic web-based applications
  • Proficiency and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap as well as back-end technologies like databases and SQL
  • Experience in designing and developing responsive, dynamic websites from conception to finished product
  • Ability to interpret and document end-user information needs
  • Knowledge of current web design and accessibility standards
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g. GitHub)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated high commitment to quality, highly thorough and dependable

What Is Helpful:

  • Experience with content management systems, preferably with Cascade
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to a diverse set of stakeholders, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism
  • Strong commitment to staying involved with and abreast of evlving data-related topics, policies, regulations, and ethical standards
