Overview of Banquet Supervisor
Purdue University Northest's Dining Services area is seeking a Banquet Supervisor to join their team. The Banquet Supervisor assumes a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation, exceptional client experience, and profitability for internal and external Events and Conferences at the Hammond campus. This position has operational oversight of the venue and catering services, encompassing event coordination, client relations, and compliance with university policies and state regulations. The Banquet supervisor serves as the onsite event manager, overseeing the execution of all aspects of the event and acting as the primary point of contact for clients and vendors. Additionally, they manage staffing to support event operations. Hours will vary by week but availability to work nights and weekends as needed is required. Occasionally off campus site location may be required.
Budgeted Salary: $44,500
Duties and Responsibilities of Banquet Supervisor
- Supervise the delivery, setup, and teardown of catering services for events, ensuring adherence to client specifications and event orders.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure team members provide high-quality customer service.
- Knowledge of the principles, procedures and equipment used in the storage, care, preparation, cooking, dispensing and serving of food in large quantities.
- Addressing client concerns, managing special requests, and ensuring overall event satisfaction.
- Reviewing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), organizing event spaces, and ensuring all room setups meet guest specifications.
- Must have good communications skills and a dynamic, outgoing personality.
- Good organizational and follow through skills.
- Under general supervision, coordinates and supervises catered events based on client specifications and documented in the BEO.

Education of Banquet Supervisor
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality or related field, preferred.
Experience of Banquet Supervisor
- One-year previous experience in banquet and catering operations.
- PNW Dining Services experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices is highly desireable.
