Overview of Dining Services Manager

Purdue University Northwest's Dining Services area is seeking a Dining Services Manager to join their team.  The Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily front-of-house operations within campus dining facilities. This position ensures excellent customer service, efficient operations, food safety compliance, and a welcoming dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests. The Dining Services Manager supervises team members, supports dining initiatives, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and engaging environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities of Dining Services Manager

  • Manage daily front-of-house operations for campus dining locations. 
  • Supervise, train, coach, and schedule front-of-house staff and student employees.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and guest satisfaction 
  • Monitor dining room appearance, cleanliness, and organization  
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and register accountability 
  • Support meal periods to ensure efficient service and positive guest experiences
  • Collaborate with culinary and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth operations  
  • Assist with marketing promotions, special events, and campus dining programs
  • Ensure team members follow proper uniform, safety, and service standards 
  • Support employee engagement and team development initiatives  
  • Prepare operational reports and assist with administrative duties as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education of Dining Services Manager

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred 

Experience of Dining Services Manager

  • One year of experience in food service, dining, or hospitality operations.
  • Previous supervisory experience in food service, hospitality, or campus dining, preferred
  • Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and scheduling preferred
  • PNW Dining Services experience preferred

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Extended evening and weekend hours occur during the spring and fall semesters (16 weeks each) 
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and move 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 40 pounds occasionally.  
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to use personal vehicle to drive on behalf of the University
  • Must meet the Minimum Driver Qualifications as defined by the Use of Vehicles for University Business Policy
