Job Summary

The Career Center Intern will play a vital role in advancing the mission of the office by actively engaging in the career development of both students and alumni. Responsibilities include providing support for career-related events and programs, facilitating employer connections within the Purdue Northwest campus community, and offering assistance in various capacities to ensure the smooth operation of the Career Center.

 

This position will start in the Fall semester (9/17/26), offering the possibility of continuation through the Spring semester. $17.00 per hour and up to 15 hours per week.

Career Advising (70%)

· Provide basic but effective Career Advising to students and alumni on application materials and career resources in Career Development.

· Assist in the implementation and delivery of career assignments from Faculty/Staff of PNW.

· Assist in sharing resources on Career Exploration through the Career Center website and Handshake.

· Participate in various outreach activities, including giving campus presentations and representing the Career Center events and programs.

· Assist in making connections between students and recent alumni with employers looking to fill employment opportunities.

· First-Generation student targeted support through advising practices to support career readiness, belonging, financial literacy, imposter syndrome and social capital barriers.

Operational / Events (20%)

Provide quality customer service to all campus constituents (faculty, staff, students, employers and partners) via phone, e-mail, and in person.

· Collaborate with professional staff on brainstorming, planning and execution of career related events that are on or off campus and online.

· Must be willing to work in a team environment, managing complex data sets, on multiple projects with a range of deadlines.

· Plan and execute outreach events, workshops, and information sessions to promote Career Center services and engage students in career-related activities.

· Collaborate with campus partners, student organizations, and employers to organize and facilitate networking events, career fairs, employer panels, and other programming.

· Coordinate event logistics, including venue reservations, catering, audiovisual equipment, and marketing materials.

· Execute the delivery of workshops and presentations for First-Generation students focused on Career Services access, Career Readiness, Belonging, and Financial Decision making.

Data Management and Analysis (10%)

· Assist with data collection in various areas such as satisfaction surveys, graduate outcome surveys, and other key performance indicators through various on-campus strategies and via phone calls.

· Support the data collection, analysis and reporting and to turn that data into actionable information

· Create graphs, dash boards, tables within Microsoft and Google Software.

Other Details:

Open to all majors

· Must be a PNW Student. GPA 3.0 or higher

· Experience in customer service in a diverse environment

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

· This position is in person and on the Hammond Campus.
