Assistant Professor of Special Education: Early Childhood/Early Intervention

 

The School of Education and Counseling is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Special Education with expertise in Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education beginning August 16, 2021.

Qualifications and Requirements

The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree with expertise in Special Education, Developmental or Clinical Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution.  Candidates nearing completion of their doctorate (ABD) are encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the School’s educational programs and will be expected (a) to teach Special Education and/or Early Childhood Education courses each semester; (b) assess and evaluate student learning outcomes, skills, and dispositions; (c) serve on program and school committees; and (d) demonstrate commitment to diversity and equity in education through teaching, community engagement, and advising of student organizations.

Experience
  1. A minimum of three years of successful teaching in P-12 environment;
  2. Experience in the delivery and management of Special Education and/or Early Childhood programming;
  3. A background in supervision of teacher candidates;
  4. Evidence of scholarly activity;
  5. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

 

Individuals who meet the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply

  • Skills in program development and performance-based assessments;
  • Experience with online teaching and distance coaching;
  • Experience designing and teaching synchronous and asynchronous online courses; and
  • Evidence of experience with program accreditation.
