Job Summary

The Department of Behavioral Sciences is seeking applications for Lecturers in the social work program for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters. This position is for one year, is benefits eligible, and would teach 4 courses each semester.

 

The Primary Responsibilities of successful candidates will be to:

1. Teach on-campus courses in Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the Hammond campus.

2. Follow the syllabus and curricula provided according to the most recent Educational and Professional Accreditation Standards (EPAS) set by Council of Social Work Education (CSWE).

3. Maintain office hours and provide feedback to students in a timely manner. For specific courses with assignments for assessment and practicum courses, collect and submit the data to the Program Director(s) for assessment purposes.

4. Attend social work faculty meeting once a month online. Attendance at faculty retreats at the beginning and end of semesters for curriculum discussion is also highly encouraged.

5. Maintain FERPA certification.

6. Understand and adhere to University policies and guidelines.

7. Have competency in effective and appropriate in-person delivery instruction.

Education

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program. PhD or DSW in Social Work or allied field is preferable but not required. 

Core Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills and willingness and ability to work in a collaborative setting
  • Demonstrated experience teaching at the college level or relevant professional experience
