Job Summary

Academic Advisors foster  environments supporting student learning, development, and integration of curricular/co-curricular experiences. Empower students as active learners through equity-minded, student-centered advising that guides educational, career, and life goal achievement. Responsibilities include course selection guidance, registration support, campus program identification, consistent student communication, data-driven progress monitoring and degree audits, appropriate referrals, and maintaining student record confidentiality while teaching university systems and policies.

Skills required:

  •  Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, current and prospective students, parents, and families.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Ability to problem solve and utilize campus resources for individuals and groups.
  •  Ability and willingness to work in a changing environment.
  •  Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

 

What is Helpful:

  • Knowledge of undergraduate student development and recruitment. 
  • Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University. Knowledge of field related to majors advised.
