Evening Building Support Specialist

Purdue University is looking for an Evening Building Support Specialist to help maintain the safe, functional, and welcoming spaces that make our vibrant campus work for students, faculty, and visitors alike.
In this role, you will take ownership of evening building operations—overseeing safety compliance, coordinating campus service needs, and delivering high-quality customer support within assigned buildings. You will serve as the central liaison between building occupants and service units such as Facilities Operations, Safety and Security, and Environmental Health and Safety. Through clear communication and responsive action, you will help ensure our facilities operate smoothly and safely during evening hours.

This position will start as an evening shift role, Monday – Friday, 2pm – 10pm, during the training period. Once training is completed, this position will shift to include weekends.

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
Preferred:
- Experience working in a university or large institutional setting preferred but not required
Skills Needed:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact professionally with diverse building occupants and service teams
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to building needs
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for tracking work orders, inspections, and communications
- Basic understanding of building safety standards, OSHA compliance, and emergency preparedness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort using digital tools for reporting and communication
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with cross-functional teams
- Commitment to excellent customer service and continuous improvement of the campus environment

The anticipated annual salary for this position is $50,000 commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.
