Job Summary

 

The Administrative Operations Coordinator (Indianapolis Campus) for Purdue Polytechnic serves as a cross-unit operational leader and centralized operational hub supporting the Assistant Dean and multiple academic units, including the School of Applied and Creative Computing, the School of Engineering Technology and the Bowen School of Construction.

This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of daily administrative, academic, and event-based operations, while also providing critical coordination across faculty, staff, students, and university systems. The role functions across units enabling consistency in processes, improving communication flow, and supporting strategic initiatives across the Indianapolis location.

Given the distributed and multidisciplinary nature of Purdue Polytechnic in Indianapolis, this role is essential to maintaining operational continuity, faculty support, student engagement, and program execution.

 

This is a dual posting- P1 (Associate) OR P2 (Coordinator); hiring decisions will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will need:

 

Associate

•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Organizational Leadership, Communications, or a related field
•Six (6) months to one (1) year of relevant professional experience in administrative coordination, office management, higher education support, or operations support
•An equivalent combination of required education and work experience may be considered. For example, an associate’s degree and 2.5-3 years of experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 4.5-5 years of experience


Coordinator

•Bachelor’s degree in business administration, higher education administration, organizational leadership, communications, or a related field
•A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant professional experience in administrative coordination, office management, higher education support, or operations support
•An equivalent combination of required education and experience may be considered. For example, an associate’s degree with 4–5 years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 6-7 years of relevant experience

 

What is Helpful:
•Experience working in a higher education environment
•Experience supporting multiple stakeholders or units simultaneously
•Experience with event coordination and logistics
•Familiarity with university systems (e.g., purchasing, scheduling, student systems)

•Comfort working across multiple units and stakeholders

•Ability to troubleshoot issues and identify solutions independently
•Comfortable handling interruptions and changing priorities
•Ability to work with incomplete information and seek clarification when needed
•Demonstrated initiative and willingness to step in where needed
 
Technology & Systems Skills


•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•Experience with scheduling tools and shared calendars
•Ability to learn and navigate university systems (purchasing, HR, student systems)
•Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams)
