Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Student Front Desk Assistant will serve as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for visitors, students, faculty, and staff entering the Student Center. This role supplements the full-time Building Support Specialist.

We are planning to hire multiple students to support throughout the day, but hours of highest priority are between 5p-8p. Students should anticipate approximately 10-15 hrs per week. 


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Greet and assist visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  2. Provide general information and directions within the building.
  3. Monitor and maintain front desk area for cleanliness and organization.
  4. Assist with scheduling, mail distribution, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  5. Communicate effectively with staff and faculty to support building operations.
  6. Uphold building security protocols during open hours (8:00 AM – 8:00 PM).

  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  2. Dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented
  3. Demonstrated problem-solving and reasoning abilities
  4. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  5. Capable of working independently and collaboratively
  6. Punctual and well-organized

Preferred Experience:

  1. Previous customer service or administrative experience
  2. Familiarity with Purdue systems and campus resources
