What You'll be Doing:
Learn to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of all domestic potable and sanitary piping systems. Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of process piping systems, including chilled water, steam, air and gas systems, high- and low-pressure steam lines, heating systems, air compressors, and pneumatic controls.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair piping systems, including valves, gaskets, controls, and pipe sections. Overtime, whether scheduled or unscheduled, may be required to complete assigned tasks.
This position may require working in adverse weather conditions, confined spaces, and at elevated heights. Must adhere to all Purdue University safety procedures and training requirements.
This position represents a dual-level posting and will be filled as SK1 or SK2. The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate. The typical work schedule for this position is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience (SK1)
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of experience in steam system repair
- 0-2 years of residential, commercial or municipal plumbing
- Cross-connection (backflow) certification preferred
Skills Needed:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with good oral and written communication
- Able to train, learn and perform towards the goal of becoming SK2
- Assist with installation, maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting of various piping systems and auxiliary equipment
- Able to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
- Knowledge of plumbing hand tools, power equipment including but not limited to threaders, drain cleaning equipment
- Steel toe safety shoes are required during all working hours
- Valid driver's licenses
Education and Experience (SK2)

- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of steam system repair and residential, commercial or municipal plumbing
- Cross-connection (backflow) certification preferred
