Job Summary
The Infection Prevention and Staff Educator is responsible for the Infection Prevention and Control activities within Purdue University Student Health (PUSH) Center. Annually evaluates and enhances the existing infection control plan for the Student Health Center. Develops, implements and maintains a reporting system for communicable diseases, public health reporting, healthcare acquired infections, and other reportable infections. Chairs the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. Prepares and presents the monthly quality activity report for the Quality Management Committee. The Infection Prevention and Staff Educator is also responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of educational programs for effective onboarding, retention, and professional development focused on supporting an engaged workforce and exemplary patient outcomes. Assures compliance with best practices, and regulatory and policy requirements. Works in collaboration with other PUSH departments to promote safe and effective patient-centered care. Collaborates with all managers of PUSH to support ongoing education and competency requirements. Ensures adherence to regulation and accreditation standards and all related PUSH policies, procedures, and guidelines through the infection control plan and appropriate staff education. Serves as a leader and role model in advancing clinical practice to achieve better patient outcomes.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana.
- Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Five (5) years of nursing experience with skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties as assigned to this position.
Skills:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within health care.
- Ability to provide operational and educational guidance to all PUSH staff.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
- Experience in project management and departmental leadership.
- Experience with IT communications (Electronic Health Records, and auditing)
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning infectious diseases and emerging public health concerns
- Analytical reasoning to interpret and take action on quality initiative data.
- Participate in committee work (Health Center and University-wide) as appropriate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Excellent organizational skills and leadership abilities.
- Ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision.
Nice to Have:
- Three years of nursing supervisor and quality improvement experience
- Purdue computing environment systems experience

The anticipated annual salary for this position is $73,554.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including internal equity, available budget, and relevant experience.
