Job Title:  Laboratory Technician - Molecular

Job Summary

The Molecular Laboratory Technician will perform routine or specialized diagnostic procedures/tests for identification of microbial pathogens of animals and analyze data in support of the diagnostic and research missions of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. This position is a molecular position with required training in other laboratory sections as needed to provide backup assistance.

 

The Molecular Diagnostics section of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory offers testing of a variety of different pathogens using molecular based methods.  Our section focuses on performing PCR with accuracy and efficiency for our clientele who rely on quick and sensitive detection of infectious diseases. The Molecular Diagnostics section also plays a critical role in the discovery and containment of emerging diseases in animal health.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of relevant work experience is required.
    • A degree in biology or animal sciences is preferred. A veterinary nursing degree may be considered
  • Combination or related education and experience including an Associate’s degree and three (3) years of relevant work experience will also be considered

 

Skills Needed:

  • Must have the ability to multitask and be flexible to accomplish daily tasks
  • Must be willing to work in a team setting
  • The right candidate will also have the ability to work independently under moderate supervision
