Job Description 

The primary role of the Sport Programs Student Intern position is program and operational support for the Sport Programs unit at RecWell. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a fast paced, but organized environment. The Sport Programs Student Intern work hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor.  

Position Responsibilities 

  • Work collaboratively with professional staff to market, promote, and administer programmatic sport activities. 
  • Assist in the oversight of designated officiated, non-officiated, tournament sports, and special events.  
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, management, supervision, mentoring and evaluation of Sport Program student positions. 
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and facilitation of Sport Program trainings and meetings.  
  • Assist with the planning, organization, development, implementation, and facilitation of officials’ training. 
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to prepare, organize, coordinate, and execute semester registration periods, playoff brackets, intramural championship night events, esports programming and events, and management and support of sport club events, including mentoring officers in event planning. 
  • Support department safety and risk management standards through administrative tasks such as maintaining records, documenting incidents, tracking compliance requirements, communicating policy updates, and assisting with follow-up related to safety procedures. 
  • Coordinate and complete administrative upkeep of program and facility supplies by monitoring inventory levels, organizing supply storage areas, documenting supply needs, assisting with ordering and purchasing processes, tracking equipment and material usage, and communicating supply-related updates or concerns to professional staff. 
  • Respond to emergency situations by prioritizing responsibilities appropriately while maintaining a high level of customer service. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional conduct when accessing, handling, or communicating sensitive information. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Position Responsibilities

Qualifications 

  • Knowledgeable in intramural, esports, and club program operations with some experience in student service positions.  
  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed 
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University or Purdue Global  
  • Previous work experience within sports programming preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail 
  • Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills 
  • Customer service oriented 
  • Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team 
  • Be timely and organized
