About Our Opportunity:

The Purdue University Veterinary Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic credentialed veterinary technician to work with our Small Animal Internal Medicine service with an emphasis in urology/nephrology. This individual will work closely with Small Animal Urology/Nephrology specialists, residents, and interns, as well as assisting with running a hemodialysis (HD) service including maintenance of the hemodialysis equipment, communication with sponsors and collaborators, and patient monitoring and management. This individual may assist with various clinical research projects as they pertain to the Nephrology/Urology field. The Nephrology/Urology department also performs multiple endoscopy and other urologic procedures, so an opportunity will be provided to assist in setup and maintenance of the equipment for these as well as client communication.
 
The Urology/Nephrology team works closely with the rest of the Internal Medicine team. While this individual will have a primary focus for urology/nephrology, there will be opportunities to participate with the daily routine of the Small Animal Internal Medicine Service as well - assisting with diagnostic sample collection and preparation, client communication/education, and other opportunities to cross train on endoscopic procedures and other unique SAIM procedures (e.g. hyperthyroid cat program). This team member will work Monday – Friday, with rotating on call on nights and weekends.

 

What We’re Looking For:
Required:

  • AAS in Veterinary Technology from AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program.
  • Must become RVT in Indiana within 12 months of hire.
  • Able to listen to and follow both verbal and written directions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to read and write in English.
  • Must possess knowledge level enough to explain and demonstrate routine veterinary medical concepts and procedures to aid in instruction of veterinary students, and veterinary technology students.

 Preferred:

  • Two years in a University Veterinary Teaching Hospital or Veterinary Specialty Hospital as a credentialed veterinary technician.  May consider 10 years in a veterinary General Practice.
