Job Summary

Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, is accepting applications for Continuing Lecturer Flight Instructor positions beginning in summer 2024. This appointment is in the School of Aviation & Transportation Technology, the Purdue Polytechnic Institute.

Description

Essential job duties include the following: (1) Instruct undergraduate flight lab courses in aviation technology; (2) Assess student performance; (3) Conduct Part 61 and 141 Stage Checks; (4) Mentor students and instructors; (5) Supervise night and Sunday flight activities; (6) Participate in projects and assignments at the discretion of the Chief Flight Instructor; (7) Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and transformational education.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess an earned Bachelor's degree at time of hire, or completed within one year of hire, in aviation and transportation technology or related field; must have at least 500 hours of total flight time and 200 hours of dual instruction given, or equivalent teaching experience and/or relevant industry experience; must have demonstrated ability to teach, manage a classroom and course; applicants must possess a current FAA issued Flight Instructor Certificate with an instrument rating (CFII), Multi engine instructor rating is preferred, and at least a third class medical.  An instructor who meets the flight time qualifications of FAA CFR 141.36(d) is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work in the US without immigration sponsorship from Purdue University.
