Job Summary

The College of Engineering Interdisciplinary Engineering Programs and School of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University invite applications for a Lecturer position. This position is non-faculty rank, full-time, academic year (9 month, with opportunity for summer teaching/administrative appointment), staff teaching position with continuing appointment beginning in July 2024. 
The position includes the following duties: 

•    Teaching within the School of Industrial Engineering and College of Engineering’s Interdisciplinary Engineering Residential Professional Master’s Programs (e.g. Engineering Management) at the graduate level. Specifically, teaching industry-focused courses on product management, technical program management, and technical project management.
•    Teaching load is 18 credits per year.
•    Courses and course content will be decided upon in collaboration with the College of Engineering Interdisciplinary Engineering Programs and School of Industrial Engineering administration and will be based on Lecturer expertise and programmatic needs.
•    The individual will be assigned as the instructor-of-record for the courses taught and have autonomy to develop and deliver course content as appropriate (including: development of appropriate syllabi, assessment methods, grading and grade reporting, office hours, etc.).
•    Collaboration with other faculty, including research faculty, professors of practice, and lecturers will be encouraged to assist with implementation of best pedagogical practices to enhance student learning.
•    Hold all classes in accord with the university academic calendars, and be flexible in course assignments and teaching times according to program needs.
•    Assist with other duties related to teaching and mentoring students, as needed.

Education

Candidates for the position must have previously completed an M.S. or higher degree in Industrial Engineering, another engineering discipline, or closely related field (e.g. CS, Technology Leadership, MBA). Ph.D. is preferred. Recent industry career experience in roles directly related to product management, technical program management, and/or technical project management is strongly preferred. Evidence of teaching effectiveness across multiple modalities (in-person, online, synchronous, asynchronous) is preferred. In addition, successful candidates will have demonstrated skills in innovative pedagogical techniques, project/problem-based learning, and industry applications of current methodologies.
