Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic scientist able to work collaboratively with research teams across scientific disciplines in a fast-paced research environment.  The successful candidate will primarily support metabolomics research services on campus.  Key responsibilities include providing expertise on the design and implementation of metabolomics experiments, collaborating with faculty to develop protocols tailored to each specific projects, and training novice users in metabolomics techniques including experimental design, data collection and analysis.  The associate director will train and mentor junior laboratory staff and students, and contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.

What We're Looking For:

  • PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Metabolomics or a related discipline
  • Three or more years of metabolomics research experience
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of required education and related experience
  • Previous direct experience with metabolomics or high end mass spectrometry in a biological context
  • Demonstrated track record to publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Knowledge of general biology, biochemistry and analytical chemistry techniques
  • Demonstrated skills and experiences in GC, HPLC, and mass spectrometry applications, method development and validation
  • Experience with advanced metabolomics sample preparation techniques from cells, tissues, and biofluids
  • Familiarity with different chromatography separation principles and techniques
  • Experience with a variety of metabolomic data analysis packages
  • Proven record of performing metabolomics experiments
  • Ability to work independently, strong organizational skills, and ability to work in a dynamic and team environment
  • Multitasking and ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects and workloads
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Direct hands-on experience of performing metabolomics experiments using LC-MS/MS
