Position/Job Summary
This Graduate Administrative Professional is a quarter-time (10 hours per week) administrative appointment, which includes evening and weekend responsibilities. This position operates within the Purdue Student Activities and Organizations Department within Student Life. The stipend for the position is $27.47/hour, plus tuition remission. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated quarter-time appointment will be from January 5th – May 15th, 2026. We are looking for candidates who would then move to a half-time (20 hours a week) appointment beginning May 2026-July 2027. Yearly rehiring will be based on performance and availability.

This position will assist in the advisory role for committee areas of the Purdue Student Union Board (PSUB). Duties may include assisting student leaders with the selection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of campus-wide programs and entertainment. Serves as on-site event management and provides supervision of student volunteers, while representing SAO administratively. Assist with administrative tasks for the Purdue Student Union Board. Some clerical office work involved, and special projects and duties will be assigned as needed.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Advises Director(s) on decisions for committee and events, including budget, vendors, and on campus partners, and works through personnel problems as necessary.
- Attends staff meetings and provides information about programs and personnel as requested.
- Staffs events and programs and completes set up and technical arrangements for the performers and assists students at the event.
- Reviews contracts with performers/vendors to assure that they are filled out correctly and appropriate riders are included.
- Oversee the event report process with Directors to ensure accurate records are obtained for all events.
- Communicates and enforces event, facility, and University rules and policies to provide a proper environment for the events, i.e., no alcoholic beverages, no smoking, room capacity limits, etc.
- Assures that appropriate standards of behavior of individuals are upheld for the safety of the attendees, the protection of facilities, and the success of the event.
- Other duties as determined by the Assistant Director for Programs and Engagement
Required Qualifications
- Earned Bachelor’s degree and admission into a Purdue University graduate program.
- Experience with and interest in student organizations and co-curricular development.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Be team oriented, willing to learn on the job.
- Understanding and ability to do event planning.
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to work within a budget.
- Flexibility
- Must be available to work at least 10 hours a week, including office hours and event coverage on nights and weekends.
