What You'll Be Doing

As the Custodial Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise the shift custodial operations of 25-40 custodians assigned to up to 20 buildings in the Building Services Department. 
  • Plan, coordinate and schedule custodial activities including the requisition of general custodial supplies, inventory for assigned buildings, and approve and monitor work hours, overtime and flextime. 
  • Travel among buildings and inspect individual areas for compliance with customer service and department standards, safety procedures, etc. 
  • Consult with General Manager on status of daily shift activities and advise of problems and/or needs. Foster teamwork and staff professional development.

What We Are Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supervision or related field 
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience 
  • Consideration will be given for an equivalent combination of required education and relevant work experience as follows: Associate’s degree and three (3) years of supervisory experience or high school diploma/GED and five (5) years of supervisory experience 

 

Skills Needed: 

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
  • Must have proven leadership and customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, employees and peers
  • Conflict resolution skills 
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Outlook, word processing and spreadsheets
  • Strong organizational skills necessary
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematics 
  • Must have completed Building Services Custodial Development Program or be enrolled in program within 90 days of hire
  • A valid US or Canadian driver's license
