Job Summary

Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, IN invites applications to fill one non-tenure-track teaching position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Physics, College of Engineering & Sciences. The initial contract term for this position is one year, to begin August 18, 2025.

The College

College of Engineering and Sciences (CES) serves over 900 undergraduate students and 60 graduate students across a wide range of academic programs. In addition to the Department of Chemistry and Physics, the college includes: a Department of Biological Sciences; a Department of Mathematics and Statistics; and a School of Engineering with a Department of Computer Sciences; a Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and a Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. The college also contains three distinguished and award-winning research centers, which include: Center for Innovations through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS), Energy Efficiency and Reliability Center (EERC), and Purdue Water Institute (PWI).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants should have an earned doctorate in chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Documented university teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach general chemistry (lecture and laboratory) and organic chemistry laboratory, as well as other courses as assigned by the dept. chair.
  • The successful candidate will be involved in curriculum development and outreach activities.
