Job Summary
The Metzger lab (https://www.evolutionofnovelfunctions.com/) at Purdue University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join externally funded research projects. The position is NIH funded, with a focus on the evolution of gene expression and regulation among Saccharomyces yeast species. Available projects make use of quantitative genetics, CRISPR genome editing, single cell techniques in flow cytometry and RNA-seq, ancestral protein reconstruction, and deep mutational scanning.
Basic qualifications:
-Applicant should have, or expect to complete within a year, a Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, or a related field.
-Demonstrated interest in evolutionary biology
-Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with graduate and undergraduate researchers
Preferred qualifications:
-Prior experience in yeast genetics or CRISPR mediated genome editing
-Familiarity with analysis of genomic and high-throughput data sets
