Job Summary

 

This position will serve as the first point of contact for student athletes seeking mental health and performance services.  This position will perform the initial assessment and triage responsibilities for mental health seeking student athletes. This role regularly engages in contact and communication with student-athletes, coaches, sports medicine staff, department leadership, and clinical staff.  This individual will conduct all initial intakes with student athletes, triage risk and acuity of crisis and need. This role will manage caseloads of clinicians, track utilization and access to services, and refer to community partners. This individual will maintain and update community referral resources, communicate with campus partners and resources, and monitor outside referral spending. This individual will assist in the maintenance, storage, and organization of department policies, procedures, and materials and assist with the scheduling and administrative functions of the department as it relates to events, workshops, and programming. This position will assist with the delivery and scheduling of pre-performance screeners. This individual will create and disseminate social media content.  This position will interact on a consistent basis with: student-athletes, coaches, department
Personnel, physicians, sports medicine staff, deans, residence life staff, counseling service staff.


 

Required:  

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related mental health field.
  • 2 years’ of experience working with an Athletics Department, college counseling, University systems, student-athlete, or some other related mental health experience.
  • Eligibility for licensure in a mental health field, or ability to obtain licensure in Indiana within two years.
  • Experience providing ethical and competent counseling services, competency in clinical interpretation, prevention, and education. 
  • Providing and developing outreach programming. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Ability to communicate and interact closely with Student-Athletes, coaching staffs, administration, and associated medical care personnel. 
  • Ability to communicate and adhere to University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, rules ‎and regulations.
