Job Summary
The Purdue Applied Research Institute, Global Development and Innovation Division (PARI-GDI) seeks a Project Manager who will provide contractual and technical management of PARI-GDI projects. The Project Manager will manage a portfolio of projects in a manner consistent with PARI-GDI’s standards and donors’ requirements as specified in funding agreements. The Project Manager will enable projects to achieve quality programming and program outcomes by working with teams in a variety of sectors including global health, education, and cyber security, among others. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Project Manager will also participate in new business initiatives, monitoring and evaluation efforts, and other functions of the organization.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Purdue University, PARI-GDI is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. PARI-GDI staff currently work remotely in West Lafayette, Northwest Indiana, and Washington D.C. The Project Manager position is a full-time position that will require intimate familiarity and close working relationships with Purdue University students, faculty, and staff. The location of the position is classified as working remotely or hybrid, although the Project Manager can be located in and, is definitely expected, to be able to spend significant time in West Lafayette, IN as deemed necessary to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of the position.
Required:
- Three (3) years of project management/coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, international relations, or other field relevant to project management and/or PARI-GDI practice area(s) (e.g., education and youth, or cybersecurity).
- Demonstrated ability to work with technical teams, communicate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, and ability to maintain team performance on projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management best practices and ability to perform work in accordance with donor funding requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Willingness to travel and work abroad for short-term assignments.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred:
- Experience managing USAID, Department of State, or other international donor-funded projects.
- Experience with education or cybersecurity-related projects a plus.
- Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in project management in an international development context.
- Preference will be given to other language capabilities relevant to international development work.
