Purdue IT is seeking an SAP Application Developer to support critical enterprise systems that help power the university's mission of education, research, and service. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with business partners, functional teams, and fellow technology professionals to develop innovative solutions that enhance operations across the university.
As an SAP Application Developer, you will be a fully competent and productive professional contributor who designs, develops, tests, implements, and supports new and existing applications within the SAP environment. You'll work on meaningful projects while contributing to the continuous improvement of enterprise technology solutions. We are in the process of streamlining our applications and moving towards Clean Core in anticipation of migrating to RISE in the next several years. We are also beginning to explore AI, Robotic Process Automation, and a variety of new technologies. What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support custom applications within the SAP environment
- Collaborate with business partners and IT teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions
- Develop applications using established architectures, frameworks, standards, and procedures
- Perform application maintenance and enhancement activities
- Create and maintain technical documentation for developed applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues while providing ongoing support to business partners and functional teams
- Communicate the status of support activities, enhancements, and projects to stakeholders
- Document known issues, resolutions, and support procedures to improve operational efficiency
- Assist with evaluating potential solutions, technologies, and development approaches
- Stay current with SAP technologies, development best practices, and emerging tools
- Provide occasional after-hours and weekend support as needed

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or business-related fields
- In lieu of degree consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two (2) or more years of experience in information technology including experience in SAP application development.
- Experience with SAP ABAP required
Preferred:
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- SAP ABAP Web Dynpro, SAP Cloud Integration, SAP Workflow, or SAP Fiori
- Experience with both Agile and ITIL principles
Skills Required:
- Solid understanding of SAP development technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision on daily tasks and projects
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and apply new skills and technologies
- Ability to:
- execute all phases of the software development life cycle
- troubleshoot difficult but typically not complex technical issues
- interact with a variety of customers and colleagues in a professional manner
- understand and support multiple applications
- assess requirements and estimate effort required to develop solutions
Preferred:
- Knowledge of project management principles

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $71,760 to 76,248 annually commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.
