Job Summary

Regional Educators are Extension professionals who connect Land Grant University research with communities through place-based engagement and program delivery. They build relationships with local stakeholders, deliver educational programs, and adapt statewide resources to meet community needs.  In this role, you will be focused on developing foundational skills in program delivery and community engagement within an assigned county or counties. Working under general supervision, the Regional Educator delivers established Extension programs, builds relationships with local stakeholders, and develops competency in needs assessment and program evaluation. 

 

Interdisciplinary Team: Health and Wellness

  • Potential Focus areas: Individual health, community health, workplace wellness, mental health, substance use prevention, etc.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Delivering established educational programs to community members within assigned county/counties under general supervision
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders, including county government, community organizations, and residents
  • Assisting in adapting statewide curricula and resources to meet local community needs
  • Facilitating workshops, trainings, and educational events with guidance from senior educators
  • Assisting in conducting local needs assessments to identify community priorities
  • Collecting program data and document outcomes
  • Supporting regional and statewide program development by contributing local observations and feedback
  • Coordinating with local partners to support program delivery and address community needs
  • Representing Purdue Extension at local meetings and community events
  • Connecting community members with university resources and specialists
  • Assisting in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers in program delivery
  • Providing guidance to community members and local organizations under supervision of senior educators
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to build competencies in program delivery, community engagement, and content expertise
  • Working with supervisor to develop professional growth plan
  • Pursuing training and certifications relevant to content area(s)
  • May supervise county support staff or other personnel

What We're Looking For:

  • Masters degree in relevant field
  • Some experience in educational program delivery, community engagement, or related fields
  • In lieu of degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered (Bachelors + 2 years of experience)
  • Effective written and oral communication for all audiences
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to learn and deliver educational programming
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations
  • Basic program delivery and facilitation skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally

 

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience working with various audiences and communities
  • Familiarity with digital technologies and online education delivery
  • Experience with data collection and basic evaluation
  • Knowledge of current trends in content area(s)
  • Relevant professional certifications or licenses (i.e., AICP, RDN, CCA, etc.)
